Angie Scioli

Angie has taught Social Studies at Leesville Road High School since graduating as a NC Teaching Fellow from UNC-Chapel Hill. She has a Masters degree in education and is a long-time National Board Certified teacher who was recognized as Wake County's First Year Teacher of the Year in 1994 and LRHS Teacher of the Year in 1999. In 2013, her “open letter” declaring we should all support public schools by “Wearing Red4Ed on Wed.” led to the founding of Red4EdNC.  She has been a fellow with Hope Street Group’s Teacher Voice Network and is the primary subject of the documentary titled Teacher of the Year. In addition to helping inform teachers and the public about education policy, Angie has also worked to get legislation passed to create new leadership paths for teachers.
